At The Chef’s Academy at Harrison College, our experienced faculty and staff are dedicated to providing you with the guidance and knowledge you need to overcome life’s obstacles and pursue your dream of joining the pastry industry. We offer two options in pastry arts: a 90-credit-hour Pastry Arts Associate of Applied Science Degree program or a 48-credit-hour diploma program (currently available in Indiana only). If you decide to start with the diploma program first, you can always use those credits later to help you pursue the 90-credit-hour degree. Through a well-balanced curriculum and hands-on instruction, both of our pastry arts programs empower you to convert your passion into a successful career as a pastry chef, cake decorator, baker or pastry cook.

As a student in one of our pastry arts programs, you will be introduced to the art of making specialty breads, cakes, pies, pastry creams and French pastries and presented with skills in advanced decoration and design. You also will gain direct experience with food preparation and decoration through our kitchen courses and will be given an overview of the organization and operation of a commercial kitchen and bake shop. Our faculty and staff are passionate about providing you with the knowledge and practical instruction you need to achieve success and are readily available when you need them.

About Pastry Arts

As a graduate of one of our pastry arts programs, you will have career options. Our instructors work every day to provide you with the skills necessary to pursue a career in a variety of areas, including commercial and catering kitchens, restaurants and bakeries. Typical duties of a pastry chef include baking, creating sauces and creams, decorating pastries, ensuring a clean and organized kitchen and ordering supplies.
